 Position Description:   Administrative Assistant

 The Lifesaving Society strives to meet its mission and purpose (see attached) through program, product, event and service support to our affiliates and members.   The Society has over 5,000 members and we process approximately 2,000 lifesaving, lifeguarding, leadership and recognition awards every year.

 The Administrative Assistant would be a new addition to the normal staff complement and assist with the management of the Society’s day to day operations.  The Administrative Assistant  position will assist the Society to expand and enhance programs and services to meet the high volume of affiliate, member and public demands.

Duties will include:

§          Work within the Program Development framework to support initiatives, activities and opportunities. Specifically resource development and marketing for existing programs.

§          Provide program marketing and sales support through consultation, meetings and information sharing.

 §          Provide promotional support for Visual Identity awareness, Branch representation and recognition.

§          Provide support for Drowning Prevention Day, Newsletters, Training program, promotions, etc.

 §          Provide excellent customer service through verbal, written and electronic communication.

 §          Process award certifications and invoice customers.  Track inventory, order

 §          Research and develop drowning reports on specific subjects.

 Duration of Job

The Administrative Assistant will be a full time work position for a 52 week period, with the possibility of additional work after that period.

 Wage Rate and Hours Per Week

The Administrative Assistant will work a five day week at 7 hours per day for a total of 35 hours per week.  Salary will be on an hourly basis of $6.75/hour up to December 31, 2006 and $7.00/hour from January 1, 2007 until completion of the term of employment and will have all required benefits and work expenses covered. 

 
This position is being funded by Service Canada under the Targeted Wage Subsidies Employment Benefit. To be eligible to participate, you must be unemployed and: have established an Employment Insurance (EI) claim or have had an EI claim that ended in the past three years, or have received maternity or parental benefits under an EI claim that started in the past five years and have left the labour force to care for one or more newborn or adopted children, and are now seeking to re-enter the work force.

 This position may lead to full time employment.

TOWN OF OKOTOKS, ALBERTA

Lifeguards

We are looking for several individuals who wish to fill some shifts at the newly expanded recreation center, that now features 2 pools (1 full-size, 1 lane swim) and a 40 person hot tub. These shifts may be day, evening, or night shift, and will include weekends. We are offering 3 shifts that will work up to 40 hours per week on a regular basis. Other shifts are somewhat flexible in nature. General lifeguard duties will be performed, requiring the incumbents to be 18 years of age with NLS, Water Safety & Lifesaving  Instructor certification. Other Instructor certifications and Pool Operations I are assets. Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Applicants who are fully qualified but are under 18 years of age will be paid at a Junior Lifeguard rate of pay until reaching 18.

Starting Wage: $12.17 Per Hour (Currently under review)
